ABOUT ARKIVOC

1. About
ARKIVOC (Archive for Organic Chemistry), ISSN: 1551-7012 (online ed.), ISSN: 1551-7004 (print on demand ed.), is a peer reviewed open access journal of organic chemistry free to authors and readers, available at https://www.arkat-usa.org.

ARKIVOC accepts peer reviewed scientific contributions dealing with all aspects of organic chemistry. Contributions must be submitted in English.

ARKIVOC is published by ARKAT USA, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, (501(c) 3 US tax code) established in 2000 through a charitable donation, and has been published continuously since 2000.

2. Aims
ARKIVOC is designed to promote the dissemination of organic chemical research worldwide to benefit students and researchers, particularly those at less well-endowed institutions, by publishing articles in the journal totally free of charge to authors and readers with no article processing or submission charges.

3. Scope
ARKIVOC publishes Full Papers describing sound original work that is of interest to organic chemists (including synthetic organic chemistry, bio-organic, organometallic, theoretical, and physical organic chemistry). The journal also publishes Reviews and Accounts on selected topics but NOT Communications.

4. Open Access Statement
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There are no submission or publication charges, and all content is freely available without charge to users or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. Nonetheless, reproduction, posting, transmission or other distribution or use of the article or any material therein requires credit to the original publication source with a link to both the article and the license. This open access policy is in accordance with the definition of open access given by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). ARKIVOC is listed by SHERPA/RoMEO, meaning that organizations can archive pre-print, post-print, or the publisher's PDF version.

5. Copyright/Licensing
As described in the author agreement, authors retain copyright to their publications and grant the journal right of first publication. As an open access journal, all content is disseminated under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).

6. Plagiarism
ARKIVOC does not accept manuscripts containing material plagiarized from other publications or authors.

7. Peer Review Procedure
The journal operates a strict peer review process of manuscripts submitted. Over 11,000 papers have been submitted to ARKIVOC for consideration since 2000, of which 4,000 have been published (14 June 2019).

8. Editorial Board of ARKIVOC
The Editorial Board consists of thirty members, all authorities in their respective fields. The Board meets once a year in a Joint Meeting of the ARKAT Steering Committee and ARKIVOC Control Board chaired by the Editor in Chief, to discuss ARKIVOC editorial matters and organization of the Florida Heterocyclic and Synthesis Conference (FLOHET) which provides some support for ARKIVOC. The ARKAT Steering Committee meets between Board meetings to facilitate implementation of Board proposals and consider new publishing initiatives.

9. Preservation
Around 30 libraries were using LOCKSS to preserve the first six volumes of ARKIVOC in 2009 and the preservation of more recent volumes is under development.

10. Coverage in Databases, Visitor Access Hits
ARKIVOC is indexed in the following databases: Google Scholar, SciFinder (Chemical Abstracts Service), Scopus (Elsevier) and Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics). Journal metrics for ARKIVOC are available in CiteScore (Elsevier), and Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate Analytics). ARKIVOC is also included in the SHERPA/RoMEO database of open access self-archiving policies.

ARKIVOC access hits: 8.89 million by 1.43 million visitors in 2018.
